Original 1960s Carimate dining chairs, designed by Vico Magistretti in 1959. First production by Cassina.
The chairs belonged to a Cambridge based artist. Owned from new, originally purchased in the 1960s.
In excellent unrestored condition. Frames are the original red stain (not repainted as many are). The woven rush seats are also in excellent condition, no breaks or fraying. The chairs have aged beautifully, the red stain has a slightly muted, aged tone with the wood grain showing through. The rush seats have a naturally aged colour.
Minor signs of age and use as pictured. Localised areas of wear, fading, surface marks. No damaged, very solid and stable. Cleaned, ready for use.
Retailed in the UK by Terence Conran through his Habitat stores. Designed for the Carimate Golf Club in Lombardy, these iconic chairs fuse traditional Italian heritage with post-war mid century design.
