Large Gatto cocoon lamp, by Italian designers Achille and Pier Castiglioni, manufactured by Flos.
This is the original vintage 1960s version, far superior to modern reproductions.
Perfect aged off white colour
Shade is made of a unique polymer sprayed on to a metal frame, to give a cocoon effect (a process developed by the US Navy during the Second World War). Solid wood base.
The lamp gives a soft ambient light.
Early Flos label to the inside.
Excellent original condition, no damage or repairs - Rare to find due to the fragile nature of the material used. Lovely finish, great colour. Some very small marks which appear to be age related. Wiring and switch in good working order.
Cleaned, ready for use.
